About me

My name is Gytis Gedvilas, a Lithuania-born artist and painter. Since a young age, my interest in artistic expression has grown steadily. After pursuing a professional dance career for almost a decade, I shifted my focus to drawing and painting, which have since become an inseparable part of my daily life.

My artistic journey serves as a diary of my life experiences. Initially self-taught from the age of thirteen, I focused on portraiture using graphite pencils and delved into the anatomy of the human form. This practice instilled in me a strong affinity for realism, but over time, I gravitated towards expressing my inner worlds through abstract and surreal elements.

My inspiration stems from daily life moments that evoke profound emotions within me. I find myself reflecting on psychological states, seeking deeper understanding and self-awareness. Additionally, interactions with others and conversations about their inner worlds often find their way into my work, creating a dialogue of multiple dimensions.

Today, my artistic focus lies in exposing emotions through action and storytelling, employing various styles. I strive for the spectator's experience to be individual and self-explanatory, preferring minimal explanations unless deemed necessary. I carefully choose titles for my pieces, as they offer subtle hints of my personal narrative.

Currently, I am expanding my artistic horizons by exploring sculpture and videography, aiming to further engage viewers and deepen the connection with my work.
