‘FILAMENTS’ exhibition

Just a week ago my solo show opened the doors to public at my residency in Paris. I wanted to create an experience where the observer is also a part of the creative process. Thats how the performance act came to be.

The show was running for 3 days where I exhibited 5 of my most recent works one of which was my project created during the residency at Carbone 17. It’s one of the biggest paintings I have created and it took me a duration of half a year to complete it. The name of the painting is ‘Limbo’. It explores my recent journey through mental difficulties and panic attacks. It came to life through a difficult time internally, and quit a changing time when I decided to move to Paris after living in Milano for a few years. I’ll talk more in depth about this painting and that journey on the next blog post, and now back to the show !

From the show day.

‘FILAMENTS’ took its inspiration from one of the artworks that traveled from Italy to this show. It’s a mixed media sculptural piece named using a Lithuanian word ‘Sėkla’ which means seed. I planted this creature in the early spring of 2023 and allowed its filaments to grow. It talks about this duality of the heart and the brain, human form and its distortion.

The performance

Connectivity was very important through the experience of this exhibition. People where invited to participate in the creation process of several new artworks. All they had to do is sit inside this imaginary cube, flip the sand clock and start a one on one 30 minutes painting session where I tried to capsulate them inside the canvas. In the chaos of the exhibition and people we where able to create a thread of special attention towards each other, and I guess not surprisingly, for many it was the first time they could sit down and be painted by the artist. Im so grateful for this experience through which I also learned so much about myself and participants.

This experience I hold close to my heart. Thank you to my friends that came to support me in this adventure and thank you to everyone that came to see it. CARBONE 17 team has given me a gift of exploring my fantasies with you. I hope through this blog I can give a closer experience to this show for the ones that couldn’t make it. In the gallery bellow you can see more moments from the show. Make sure to check out the STORE if you want to have a piece of special designs created exclusively for the show. I hope to see you all in the next chapter !
